Triceratops Age of life Late Cretaceous (68-65 million years ago) Feeding habits Herbivorous Features Triceratops means three-horned-face. This dinosaur is made disncve by the three horns on the skull that sit upon a large, bony frill. Triceratops has a large four-legged body that is similar to the modern rhinoceros. Triceratops and tyrannosaurus lived in the same period, so the role of its horns and shields were likely to defend against large predators. While the horns were sharp, they could also be broken during collisions. Triceratops large bony frill protected its neck, but it also helped regulate the dinosaurs body temperature. Triceratops was one of the latest dinosaurs that lived in the late Cretaceous. It was an herbivorous dinosaur. The remains of the triceratops were only found in the Rocky Mountains of North America and the eastern foothills. In the late Cretaceous period, this area was a wooded plain. 2.9-3m 1.8m Age of life Late Cretaceous (68-65 million years ago) Feeding habits Carnivorous Features Tyrannosaurus is the most popular of all dinosaurs and was one of the largest land carnivores in history. Tyrannosaurus walked on its two hind legs, and its arms were small with only two claws on each hand. The arms were too short to touch each other and did not provide much help while hunng. Tyrannosaurus had extremely powerful jaws and sharp, thick teeth that would tear through esh and crush bones. Tyrannosaurus rex Tyrannosaurus rex belonged to the largest type of Tyrannosaurus. The body was about 11.5-14.7 meters long. The average hip height was about 4 meters with the maximum up to about 5.2 meters. The head height was up to nearly 6 meters. The average weight was about 9 tons with the maximum about 14.85 tons. The maximum head length was about 1.55 meters. The bite force was generally 90,000 to 120,000 Newtons, and the biggest bite force of the mouth end could reach about 200,000 Newtons. It was also the thickest carnivorous dinosaur. 1.8m 4.6-6.1m Ankylosaurus Age of life Late Cretaceous (68-65 million years ago) Feeding habits Herbivorous Features Ankylosaurus was the largest dinosaur of the Ankylosaurus family in the late Cretaceous period in the United States and Canada. Its head was wide and at. The face-covering thick shield and the triangular spines on the upper side of the head made it as if there was a steel-like helmet on the head. The tail straight was like an iron rod, and the tail hammer was disncvely at. Ankylosaurus is believed to have been a slow-moving animal, but able to make quick movements when necessary. Ankylosaurus was a typical representave of armored dinosaurs, with the armor growing on the surface of the body that helped it resist aack from carnivorous dinosaurs. At the same me, some Ankylosauruses also had a bone hammer on their tail, which could shake to hit the carnivorous dinosaur.
