If you want to connect a standard telephone to the same telephone jack, use the Panasonic KX-J66 T-adaptor. 4 Battery Installation/Battery Charge Battery installation 1 Install the battery in the handset. 2 1 2 Close the handset cover. Battery Charge To power the handset, charge the battery. Place the handset on the base unit and charge for about 6 hours before initial use. If you do not record your own message, one of two pre-recorded greetings will be played for callers. All messages (greeting, incoming and voice memo) are stored in digital memory. The total recording time is about 16 minutes. We recommend you record a brief greeting message in order to leave more time for recording new messages. 1 Press [GREETING REC]. To answer a call 1 Press [SP-PHONE]. 2 Talk into the MIC (microphone). 3 To hang up, press [SP-PHONE]. 9 Caller ID Service This unit is compatible with a Caller ID service offered by your telephone company. If you subscribe to a Caller ID service, the calling partys information will be shown on the handset display after the rst ring. After the second ring the handset and the base unit will announce the displayed name following every ring (Talking Caller ID feature). You will audibly be informed of whom is calling you. Name and telephone number Caller ID service is required for this feature. Only the name will be announced. The unit can record information of up to 50 different callers in the Caller List. The Caller List information is sorted by the most recent to the oldest call. When the 51st call is received, the rst call is deleted. Using the list, you can automatically call back a caller. You can store the callers names and numbers from the Caller List into the phone book. If you subscribe to both Caller ID and Call Waiting with Caller ID services
(CWID), when a second call is received while talking, the second caller's information will be displayed. Phone Book The handset can store up to 50 names and phone numbers in its phone book. You can make a call by selecting a name or number from the phone book. Chain Dialing Chain dialing allows you to dial numbers stored in the phone book while you are on a call. This feature can be used, for example, to dial a calling card access number that you have stored in the phone book, without having to dial manually. 10 Automatic Answering Operation Setting the unit to answer calls Press [ANSWER ON] to turn on the answering system. The indicator lights and Answer set is heard. The unit will announce the remaining recording time if it is less than 3 minutes. If you hear Memory full, is displayed on the base unit and the ANSWER ON FULL indicator ashes rapidly, erase some, or all, of the messages. If you do not want the unit to answer calls, press [ANSWER ON] again to turn off the answering system. The indicator light goes out and Answer off is heard. You can also turn on the answering system remotely using any other phone. Listening to Messages You can see the total number of recorded messages on the base unit display. If MESSAGE indicator ashes on the base unit and New message is displayed on the handset, new messages have been recorded. To play back messages, press [MESSAGE]. When you have new messages;
the unit announces the number of new messages and only new messages are played back. When you have no new messages;
the unit announces No new messages. All message playback and plays back all messages. When you have no messages;
the unit announces No messages. 11 openLCR Service for Caller IQ Feature This unit is compatible with service provided by openLCR. To activate the Caller IQ features, you will need to register with the openLCR service and download the carrier table to your unit. The carrier table is based on your telephone number, address and your long distance calling plan when you register. No extra steps are necessary to place a long distance call with Caller IQ feature. The openLCR service does not apply for local area calls. Important:
