If the battery will not be used for a long period of time (a month or more), charge or discharge
(use) the battery until the remaining battery level becomes 30% to 40% and store it in a cool, dry place.
This computer prevents overcharg-
ing of the battery by recharging only when the remaining power is less than approx. 95% of capacity.
The battery is not charged when the computer is rst pur-
chased. Be sure to charge it before using it for the rst time. When the AC adaptor is connected to the computer, charging begins automat-
ically. DFQW5887ZAT_FZ-M1mk1-OI_8.1_M.indb 7 DFQW5887ZAT_FZ-M1mk1-OI_8.1_M.indb 7 2014/01/17 12:22:18 2014/01/17 12:22:18 6
The battery is a consum-
able item. If the amount of time the computer can be run by using a particular battery becomes dramatically shorter and repeated recharging does not restore its per-formance, the battery should be replaced with a new one.
Always power off the computer when it is not in use. Leaving the computer on when the AC adaptor is not connected will exhaust the remaining battery capacity. To minimize deterioration of the built-in battery, connect the computer to the AC adaptor and re-
charge it for approximately 2 hours about once every year. t s r i F e M d a e R Safety Precautions
Should the battery leak and the uid get into your eyes, do not rub your eyes. Immediately ush your eyes with clear water and see a doctor for medical treatment as soon as possible. NOTE
The battery may become warm during recharging or normal use. This is completely normal.
Recharging will not commence if internal temperature of the battery is outside of the allowable temperature range (0 C to 50 C
{32 F to 122 F}). ( Refer-
ence Manual Battery Power) Once the allowable range requirement is satis ed, charging begins automati-
cally. Note that the recharging time varies based on the usage condi-
tions. (Recharging takes longer than usual when the temperature is 10 C {50 F} or below.)
If the temperature is low, the operat-
ing time is shortened. Only use the computer within the allowable tem-
perature range.
This computer has a high tempera-
ture mode function that prevents the degradation of the battery in high temperature environments.
( Reference Manual Battery Power) A level corresponding to a 100% charge for high temperature mode is approximately equivalent to an 80% charge level for normal temperature mode. 7 DFQW5887ZAT_FZ-M1mk1-OI_8.1_M.indb 8 DFQW5887ZAT_FZ-M1mk1-OI_8.1_M.indb 8 2014/01/17 12:22:18 2014/01/17 12:22:18 This computer is not intended for use in medical equipment including life-

This device meets the governments requirements for exposure to radio waves. This device is designed and manu-
factured not to exceed the emission limits for exposure to radio frequen-
cy (RF) energy set by the Federal Communications Commission of the U.S. Government.
The exposure standard for wireless device employs a unit of measure-
ment known as the Speci c Absorp-
tion Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit set by the FCC is 1.6 W/kg.
* Tests for SAR are conducted us-
ing standard operating positions accepted by the FCC with the device transmitting at its highest certi ed power level in all tested frequency bands. Although the SAR is determined at the highest certi ed power level, the actual SAR level of the device while operating can be well below the maximum value. This is because the device is designed to operate at multiple power levels so as to use only the poser re-
quired to reach the network. In general, the closer you are to a wireless base station antenna, the lower the power output.
<Only for model with wireless LAN>
This product is restricted to indoor use due to its operation in the 5.15 to 5.25 GHz frequency range. FCC requires this product to be used in-
doors for the frequency range 5.15 to 5.25 GHz to reduce the potential for harmful interference to co-channel Mobile Satellite systems. High power radars are allocated as primary users of the 5.25 to 5.35 GHz and 5.65 to 5.85 GHz bands. These radar stations can cause interference with and/or damage this product. 25-M-W-1 This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
(1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and
(2) This device must accept any interfer-
ence received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Responsible Party:

located or operated with any other antenna or transmitter. t s r i F e M d a e R For U.S.A. Federal Communications Commis-
sion Radio Frequency Interference Statement Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equip-
ment generates, uses and can radi-
ate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particu-
lar installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be de-
termined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
z Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. z Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. z Connect the equipment into an out-
let on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. z Consult the Panasonic Service Center or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. 14 DFQW5887ZAT_FZ-M1mk1-OI_8.1_M.indb 14 2014/01/17 12:22:19 t s r i F e M d a e R z This device meets the governments requirements for exposure to radio waves. This device is designed and manu-
factured not to exceed the emission limits for exposure to radio frequen-
cy (RF) energy set by the Federal Communications Commission of the U.S. Government. z The exposure standard for wireless device employs a unit of measure-
ment known as the Speci c Absorp-
tion Rate, or SAR.
