This quick start guide will show you how to set up your system and use its key features. Please refer to the separate safety instructions for important product safety information prior to installing or using the product. step 1 Customize your headset 1 assemble your headset The headset comes configured for your right ear with a small eartip and medium earloop pre-installed. Note Refer to the complete User Guide at Plantronics.com/cs540 for information on how to configure your headset for your left ear, install a different sized eartip and earloop, or install the headband. n e 2 Wearing your headset When you wear the headset the microphone should rest as close to your cheek as possible without touching. Slide the headset over and behind your ear and fit the eartip into your ear. Place your index finger on the headset LED and gently push in towards your cheek. Base overview step 2 Connect and configure your phone 1 Connect the power Connect the power supply into the power jack on the back of the base. Plug the other end into a working power outlet. The Power LED on the base will be solid white. Headset overview e n 2 charge the headset Place the headset in the charge cradle. The charging LED on the base will flash green when charging and turn solid green when the headset is fully charged.

20. Note Charge for at least 20 minutes prior to the first use. A full charge takes 3 hours. This product has a replaceable battery. Use only the battery type supplied by Plantronics. 3 Connect your desk phone Connect one end of the telephone interface cable to the back of the base. 4 Configure your desk phone Set your desk phones volume to mid-range. Pick up the desk phone handset and listen for a clear dial tone. Note If you do not hear a dial tone or the dial tone is not clear, look at the bottom panel of your base and slide the configuration switch to a different letter until the dial tone is clear. step 3 Call 1 call from your desk phone Wearing your headset, press the headset call button. Disconnect the handset coil cord from the base of the desk phone and re-

connect it to the telephone cable junction box. Finally connect the remaining end of the telephone cable into the open handset port on the desk phone. Note Your desk phone handset will continue to work; its just hooked up differently. n e Remove the handset from the cradle. You should hear a dial tone. If you wear it on the left, its opposite: press down (increase) and up (decrease). 3 Mute a call To mute/unmute your headset, press the headset volume button in. When a call is muted, the call/mute LED will be solid red on the base and you will still be able to hear the caller. Do not use headphones/headsets at high volumes for an extended period of time. Doing so can cause hearing loss. Always listen at moderate levels. Exposure to high volume sound levels or excessive sound pressure may cause temporary or permanent damage to your hearing. Although there is no single volume setting that is appropriate for everyone, you should always use your headset/headphones with the volume set at moderate levels and avoid prolonged exposure to high volume sound levels. The louder the volume, the less time is required before your hearing could be affected. You may experience different sound levels when using your headset /headphones with different devices. The device you use and its settings affect the level of sound you hear. If you experience hearing discomfort, you should stop listening to the device through your headset/headphones and have your hearing checked by your doctor. 1. Set the volume control in a low position before putting your headset or headphones on your ears and use as low a volume as possible. 2. Avoid turning up the volume to block out noisy surroundings. Whenever possible, use your headset or headphones in a quiet environment with low background noise. 3. Limit the amount of time you use headsets or headphones at high volume levels. 4. Turn the volume down if the sound from the headset/headphones prevent you from hearing people speaking near you. Charging Warnings Use only the charger supplied by Plantronics to charge the product. Do not use the charger for any other purpose. Ensure that the voltage rating corresponds to the power supply you intend to use. Charge the headset/headphones according to the instructions supplied with the unit. Plug the AC adapter or charger into an outlet that is near the equipment and will be easily accessible. Never charge the battery where the temperature may fall below 0C (32F) or rise above 40C (104F) -
