Use a Philips head or Cross Screwdriver to remove the screw securing the battery cover plate. Insert fresh batteries following the diagram inside the battery tray. Replace the battery cover and secure with the screw. Butler Bot needs to be paired with the controller in order to receive commands. This pairing happens automatically when the two are turned on and close to (10 feet or less) each other. 1. Turn on Butler Bot. 2. Butler Bot will deploy its stabilizing stand and its eyes will pulse red. 3. Turn on the Controller. The status LED will flash red. 4. When paired, Butler Bots eyes will turn green. 5. Butler Bot will retract its stabilizer and indicate that it is ready. 6. The Controller's status LED will be solid. NOTE:
If either the Controller or Butler Bot are turned off, the pairing process will need to be repeated. While waiting for commands, Butler Bot will roll forwards and backwards to maintain stability in Standby Mode. Open the battery compartment. Insert the 9V alkaline battery (not included) according to the diagram inside the battery tray. Replace battery cover and tighten screw. Do not submerge robot or controller in water. Do not use people or animals as obstacles. Do not run robot into furniture objects or hard surfaces as this will cause damage to both the objects and robot. Keep fingers, hair and loose clothing away from the tires, gears and motor while robot is switched to ON. Do not leave robot or transmitter near sources of heat or under direct sunlight for long periods of time. Remove all batteries when not in use to avoid accidental operation. Adult supervision is recommended when operating robot. Thoroughly inspect products before every use. If the product appears worn, frayed/splintered, cracked, or broken in any manner, discontinue use and discard immediately. Keep these instructions for future reference. ALKALINE BATTERY WARNING:

Printed in China. 1-800-374-2744 BUTTON COMBO BUTTON COMBO BUTTON COMBO STANDBY AND SLEEP MODES Butler Bot will constantly roll forwards and backwards while waiting for commands. This is to maintain its stability. After a minute of inactivity, Butler Bot will put its stabilizer down and its eyes will change to blue. It can be awakened by any input from the Controller. It will automatically shut down after 2 minutes and 30 seconds of inactivity. It will need to be switched off and back on to resume. It will also need to be paired with the Controller again. When the Wait button is pressed, Butler Bot will stop all movement and lower the stabilizer. This should be done before turning off Butler Bot. While in Wait Mode, Butler Bots eyes will turn off. Pressing any other button on the Controller will return Butler Bot to normal operations with eyes changing to green. If Butler Bots infrared sensor detects movement, it will reactivate, shake itself and sing a quick song before resuming Standby Mode. Butler Bot will resume Standby Mode if no motion is detected after 30 seconds. OBSTACLE AVOIDANCE BUTLER Pressing the Butler button will cause Butler Bot to roll forward 12 before doing an about-face. Butler Bot can carry up to 4 ounces on its tray.
* Objects should be flat and unlikely to roll off. Objects must not block the infrared sensor. Objects should be placed or removed from the tray slowly to allow Butler Bot to compensate for the extra weight. Sudden changes in weight may cause Butler Bot to fall over. Control Butler Bot's moves normally Press and Hold Press and Hold FOLLOW ME While the Follow Me button is pressed, Butler Bot will use its infrared sensors to locate the IR emitter on the Controller and move toward it. Butler Bot will rotate to search for the Controller. The Controller must be in line-of-site of Butler Bot. For best results, the Controller should be no more than 3 feet above the floor. Fluorescent lights and sunlight can affect Butler Bot ability to receive signals from the remote. TELL A JOKE Pressing the Tell a Joke button will prompt Butler Bot to tell a joke. Butler Bots eyes will shift to orange in this mode SING A SONG When the Sing a Song button is pressed, Butler Bot will play a musical tune and dance by rotating left and right. Butler Bot's eyes will glow purple in this mode. Butler Bot does not go around the obstacles. If encountering an obstacle, it stops and turn 180 degrees going away from the obstacle. FALLING OVER RECORD/PLAYBACK Butler Bot can record an audio clip up to 10 seconds long. 1.Push and hold Record/Playback button. 2.Butler Bot will speak and then emit a beep. 3.Recording will only take place after the beep and for as long as the button is held. 4.After 10 seconds, or when button is released, Butler Bot will emit another beep and then play back the recording. Play back the audio by pushing the Record/Playback button. Butler Bots eyes will be blue during recording and playback. Only one message can be stored at a time. Recording a new message erases the old one. Stored messages are erased when Butler Bot is turned off. Butler Bot is constantly balancing on its two wheels. Changes in floor surface, obstacles and sudden starts or stops are some causes for Butler Bot to fall over. When it occurs, the drive motor will disconnect to avoid damage. Butler Bots eyes will turn red and it will lower its stabilizer. Once Butler Bot is set upright, pressing any button on the Controller will resume normal operations. If Butler Bot falls over several times and is not performing as expected, turn Butler Bot off and back on to reset. Printed in China
