(It is normal for the adaptor to feel warm during use.) 5 Battery Charge To power the handset, charge the battery. Place the handset on the base unit for about 4 hours before initial use. Please call 1-800-8-BATTERY for information on how to recycle this battery. 6 Selecting the Dialing Mode You can program the dialing mode by using the handset near the base unit. If you have touch tone service, set to TONE. If rotary or pulse service is used, set to PULSE. Your phone comes from the factory set to TONE. Make sure that the handset is in the stand-by mode. 1 Press (FUNCTION/EXIT). 2 Press () or () repeatedly until the arrow points to Program. 3 Press (ENTER/CH) or FWD/EDIT (). 4 Press () or () repeatedly until the arrow points to Set dial mode. 5 Press (ENTER/CH) or FWD/EDIT (). 6 Press () or () to select Pulse or Tone. Press (ENTER/CH). A beep sounds. The display will return to the function list. To return to the stand-by mode, press (FUNCTION/EXIT) or wait for 60 seconds. You can exit the programming mode any time by pressing (FUNCTION/EXIT). 7 Making/Answering Calls To make a call 1 Press (TALK). 2 Dial a telephone number. 3 To hang up, press (TALK) or place the handset on the base unit. If Out of range is displayed and an alarm tone sounds in step 1, move closer to the base unit or place the handset on the base unit. Then try again. To redial the last number: Press (TALK), then press (REDIAL/PAUSE). To answer a call If the handset is off the base unit, press (TALK). If on the base unit, just lift up. 8 Caller ID Service This unit is compatible with a Caller ID service offered by your telephone company. After you subscribe to a Caller ID service, the calling party information will be displayed after the rst ring. The unit can record information of up to 50 different callers, including the time and date received and the number of times called, in the Caller List. The Caller List information is sorted from the most recent to the oldest call. When the 51st call is received, the oldest call is deleted. If your unit is connected to a PBX system which does not support Caller ID services, you cannot access those services. Please consult your equipment supplier. 9 Important Safety Instructions When using this unit, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of re, electric shock, or personal injury. 1.
