Safety Information Read the operating instructions for the unit and all other com-
ponents of your car audio system carefully before using the system. They contain instructions about how to use the sys-
tem in a safe and effective manner. Panasonic assumes no responsibility for any problems resulting from failure to observe the instructions given in this manual. This manual uses pictographs to show you how to use the product safely and to alert you to potential dangers resulting from improper connections and operations. The meanings of the pictographs are explained below. It is important that you fully understand the meanings of the pictographs in order to use this manual and the system properly. Warning This pictograph intends to alert you to the pres-
ence of important operating instructions and installation instructions. Failure to heed the instructions may result in severe injury or death. Caution This pictograph intends to alert you to the pres-
ence of important operating instructions and installation instructions. Failure to heed the instructions may result in injury or material dam-
age. Warning Observe the following warnings when using this unit. Comply with regulations Always comply with legal requirements and local restrictions when using this unit. Keep away from the medical devices. This unit and mobile phones can interfere with the function-
ing of medical devices such as hearing aids or pacemakers. Failure to observe this may arise the malfunction of med-
ical devices resulting in personal injury or death. The driver should not neither adjust the unit nor make a pair while driving. Adjusting the unit or making a pair of this unit and the mobile phone will distract the driver from looking ahead of the car and can cause accidents. Always stop the car in a safe location and use the parking brake before adjustment or making a pair. 2 Warning Use the proper power supply (12 V). This product is designed for operation with a negative grounded 12 V DC battery system. Never operate this prod-
uct with other battery systems, especially a 24 V DC battery system. Do not disassemble or modify the unit. Do not disassemble, modify the unit or attempt to repair the product yourself. If the product needs to be repaired, consult your dealer or an authorized Panasonic Servicenter. Do not use the unit when it is out of order. If the unit is out of order (no power, no sound) or in an abnormal state (has foreign objects in it, is exposed to water, is smoking, or smells), turn it off immediately and consult your dealer. Stop using this unit and mobile phone whenever requested. This unit shares the communication frequency with other private or public wireless communication equipment such as a wireless LAN and other wireless communication radios. You should stop using this unit whenever you are notified that your unit disturbs other wireless communication imme-
diately. Observe the following warnings when installing. (including whole assembly of the devices for system up) Disconnect the lead from the negative () battery terminal before installation. Wiring and installation with the negative () battery terminal connected may cause electrical shock and injury due to a short circuit. Some cars equipped with the electrical safety system have specific procedures of battery terminal disconnection. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE MAY LEAD TO THE UNINTENDED ACTIVATION OF THE ELECTRICAL SAFETY SYSTEM RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AND PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH. Never use safety-related components for installa-
tion, grounding, and other such functions. Do not use safety-related vehicle components (fuel tank, brake, suspension, steering wheel, pedals, airbag, etc.) for wiring or fixing the product or its accessories. Installing the product on the air bag cover or in a location where it interferes with airbag operation is prohibited. h s i l g n E 3 Safety Information (continued) If there seem to be something wrong with the sys-
tem, park your car in a safe place and identify the abnormality. Warning Check for piping, gasoline tank, electric wiring, and other items before installing the product. If you need to open a hole in the vehicle chassis to attach or wire the product, first check where the wire harness, gaso-
line tank, and electric wiring are located. Then open the hole from outside if possible. Never install the product in a location where it inter-
feres with your field of vision. After installation and wiring, you should check the normal operation of other electrical equipment. The continuation of their using in abnormal conditions may cause fire, electrical shock or a traffic accident. In the case of installation to an airbag-equipping car, confirm warnings and cautions of the vehicle manufacturer before installation. Make sure the leads do not interfere with driving or getting in and out of the vehicle. Insulate all exposed wires to prevent short circuit-
ing. 4 Caution Observe the following cautions when using this unit. Keep the sound volume at an appropriate level. Keep the volume level low enough to be aware of road and traffic conditions while driving. This unit is designed for use exclusively in automo-
biles. Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight or exces-
sive heat. Otherwise these will raise the interior temperature of the unit, and it may lead to smoke, fire, or other damage to the unit. Do not use the product where it is exposed to water, moisture, or dust. Exposure of the unit to water, moisture, or dust may lead to smoke, fire, or other damage to the unit. Make especially sure that the unit does not get wet in car washes or on rainy days. Observe the following cautions when installing. (including whole assembly of the devices for system up) Refer wiring and installation to qualified service personnel. Installation of this unit requires special skills and experience. For maximum safety, have it installed by your dealer. Panasonic is not liable for any problems resulting from your own installation of the unit. Follow the instructions to install and wire the prod-
uct. Not following the instructions to properly install and wire the product could cause an accident or fire. Take care not to damage the leads. When wiring, take care not to damage the leads. Prevent them from getting caught in the vehicle chassis, screws, and moving parts such as seat rails. Do not scratch, pull, bend or twist the leads. Do not run them near heat sources or place heavy objects on them. If leads must be run over sharp metal edges, protect the leads by winding them with vinyl tape or similar protection. h s i l g n E 5 Safety Information (continued) Caution Do not install the product where it is exposed to strong vibrations or is unstable. Avoid slanted or strongly curved surfaces for installation. If the installation is not stable, the unit may fall down while driving and this can lead to an accident or injury. Make sure that wiring is completed before installa-
tion. To prevent damage to the unit, do not connect the power connector until the whole wiring is complet-
ed. Secure the mobile phone to prevent it from moving while driving. 6 The following applies only in the U.S.A. Part 15 of the FCC Rules FCC Warning:

Overview Whats Hands-Free Kit featuring Bluetooth technology (CY-BT100U) ?
Connection between this unit and the head unit (e.g. CQ-C8403U, CQ-C7403U, CQ-C5403U, etc.) allows users to receive calls, call back, and reject incoming calls without direct operation of Bluetooth-ready mobile phone. This unit is designed only for receiving calls with taking account of safety. No call can be made with this unit. (But a call-back call can be made.) This unit does not support the voice dial function. Note:
Do not use the mobile phone very closely to this unit. Failure to observe this may cause low quality tone or bad connection condition. Do not use this unit and other wireless devices at the same time. Failure to observe this may cause interference between this unit and those devices. Bluetooth connection will make the battery life of mobile phone shorter. This unit cannot support the cable connection mobile phones. This unit (only 1 unit) is connectable to the head unit through the Expansion Module (CY-EM100U, option) as well as con-

Other trademarks and trade name are those of their respective owners. Bluetooth Bluetooth is a name of the wireless communication technology for the mobile information equipment such as portable PCs, PDAs, mobile phones, etc. These devices can be connected each other without cables and communicate each other. Bluetooth uses 2.45 GHz bands wave that can be used without a license. Bluetooth chips are relatively small and their power con-
sumption is low. Communication service distance of Bluetooth is approximately 10 m. Bluetooth profile Bluetooth profile is a standard protocol used in Bluetooth com-
munications settled for each category of the communication equipment. This hands-free unit supports the following Bluetooth profiles:
HFP (Hands Free Profile) Ver. 1.0 Link key This is an up to 16-byte password used for device identification. Entering the same PIN number of the device to be connected allows identification. Once identification is completed, the Link key is established. Identification is enabled without input of the Bluetooth Pin Number from next time thanks to holding the Link key at both sides. PIN (Personal Identification Number) This is a password used for self identification. Pairing Pairing is authentication between 2 Bluetooth devices (This Hands-Free Kit featuring Bluetooth technology and your mobile phone in this manual) with using a link key. pled before using. Step 1 Turn on the power of the Head unit. (Pairing is enabled only when the power of the Head unit is on.) Step 2 Press and hold the slowly (for approximately 2 seconds).
[Hang-on] until the indicator blinks
(Press and hold cancel.)
[Hang-up] for more than 2 seconds to Note: Bluetooth devices other than paired should be switched off during pairing. Step 3 Make ready your mobile phone for pairing. As for the pairing at the mobile phones side, please refer to your mobile phones manual. Step 4 Enter a pin number 0000 into your mobile phone and connect.
(\ Manual of your mobile phone) These actions should be done within 60 seconds, or you may fail to pair. Note: Depending upon the mobile phone, the connecting opera-
tions should be conducted separately. Step 5 Wait until the indicator lights continuously (for approximately 2030 seconds). Retry from Step 2 when the indicator does not light. Note:
Only the latest paired mobile phone is usable. This unit is displayed as CY-BT100 on the screen of the mobile phone. Once pairing is established, this operation is not required until replacing the phone with another mobile phone. e Microphone positioning Position the microphone appropriately to catch sounds satisfac-
torily. The direction of the sun visor may change the volume. r Communication test on paired mobile phone Check whether the paired mobile phone is available. (Call to the paired mobile phone.) t Volume adjustment
(head unit) Note: The volume is adjustable only when receiving calls. q Adjust the ring volume. The ring tone may come from the mobile phone depending on your head unit or mobile phone. Refer to the individual instruc-
tions for the head unit or mobile phone for details. w Adjust the volume of telephone conversation. h s i l g n E 19 Basic Operation Caution Telephone conversation during driving may result in conse-
quences adverse to safety. Follow your local lows and regu-
lations. Appropriately adjust the volume of incoming calls in advance ( \ Operating instructions of your head unit). This unit is designed only for receiving calls with taking account of safety. No call can be made with this unit. (But a call-back call can be made.) Receiving a call When a call comes in, the state indicator blinks rapidly. 1 Press the 2 Adjust the volume if necessary. Bluetooth connection will make the battery life of mobile phone shorter. Depending upon the mobile phone, the display backlight of a mobile phone remains on when ACC is in the ON position. In this case, you should turn off the backlight with the mobile phone ( \ Manual of your mobile phone ). Do not turn off the power of the Head unit during a phone conversation. Otherwise, some mobile phones cut the conver-
sation. In some cases such as the manner mode, the ring tone is dis-
abled while the ring tone is set to off. Automatic reconnection When you get out of the car, turning off the power of the Head unit allows automatic disconnection of communication between this unit and the mobile phone. After communication is disconnected, the mobile phone can be used as usual. When you get in the car, turning on the power of the Head unit allows auto-
matic connection of communication between this unit and the mobile phone.
(Some mobile phone models require automatic connection setting. In some cases, connection setting is required on the selection screen appearing on the mobile phone while connection is established.) After communication is connected, the hands-free function is available. Advanced Operation Calling back A call-back call can be made. However, the callback function is disabled after disconnecting Bluetooth communication. (e.g. communication disconnection between the Bluetooth unit and mobile phone, and communica-
tion disconnection by turning off the power of the Head unit) Step 1 Press the
[Hang-on] after a call comes in. Step 2 Confirm the telephone number on the Head unit. Rejection of incoming calls Press the

The mobile phone is not HFP (Hands Free Profile)-ready even it is Bluetooth-ready. Use an HFP-ready and Bluetooth-ready mobile phone in consideration of each position. version. (The ringtone of some mobile phones does not come from the speakers mounted in a car but only from the mobile phones.) The voice quality of hands-free is low
(Distortion, noise etc.). There is another wireless device near the unit. Switch off the wireless device or keep it away from these bluetooth units. Distance between the Hands-Free Kit featuring Bluetooth technology and the mobile phone is too long or by contraries, too short. Keep proper distance between the Hands-Free Kit featuring Bluetooth technology and the mobile phone. The reception condition of the mobile phone is poor, or the line status is bad. Use the mobile phone in areas with good reception condition. Telephone conversation is suspended. Receiving condition of your mobile phone is bad. Drive your car to the place where receiving condition is good and park your car in a safe place with parking brake used, and then you make a call. Distance between the microphone and the speaker is too short. Keep sufficient distance between the microphone and the speakers or decrease the volume of voice (Refer to the manual of your Head unit.). Echo may be produced depending on the line status or mobile phone to be used. The phone conversation is hard to hear. If you and the person on the other end of the line talk at the same time, you may have difficulty to hear his or her voice, and vise versa. (This is not machine failure.) The telephone conversation should be conducted alternately. The Hands-Free Kit featuring Bluetooth technology cannot receive a call.
